HEIRS OF WATSON ISLAND, BOOK 1
Simon & Schuster, Simon Pulse
Hardcover, 10/28/14
ISBN: 18732883
Beautiful Creatures meets The Body Finder in Compulsion, the first novel in a spellbinding new trilogy. Three plantations. Two wishes. One ancient curse.
All her life, Barrie Watson has been a virtual prisoner in the house where she lives with her shut-in mother. When her mother dies, Barrie promises to put some mileage on her stiletto heels. But she finds a new kind of prison at her aunt's South Carolina plantation instead--a prison guarded by an ancient spirit who long ago cursed one of the three founding families of Watson Island and gave the others magical gifts that became compulsions. Stuck with the ghosts of a generations-old feud and hunted by forces she cannot see, Barrie must find a way to break free of the family legacy. With the help of sun-kissed Eight Beaufort, who knows what Barrie wants before she knows herself, the last Watson heir starts to unravel her family's twisted secrets. What she finds is dangerous: a love she never expected, a river that turns to fire at midnight, a gorgeous cousin who isn't what she seems, and very real enemies who want both Eight and Barrie dead.

Yay!
ReplyDeleteThinking about signing up, I have the book, I want to read the book, but I've also got a ton of plans and want to find time to do NaNoWriMo too and haven't even figured out where I'm carving out the time to do that. Are we allowed to sign up late? I want to know I'm going to have a few hours I can carve out to read it before I commit to a read-along
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn! Yes! I have the signups to stay open for the entire length of the readalong! I hope you are able to join us. I am also doing NaNo, so I know what you mean about finding time. But I think it is a pretty laid back readalong. I plan to post the schedule on Saturday, but most days it is reading like 2 chapters. Some days are 3 chapters. But you can also read at your own pace. Our goal is to read it in the two weeks and have some fun with discussing the book!
DeleteI really hope you decide to join!
