Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic sci-fi series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball, and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck (and her dad’s old costume), Elle’s determined to win…unless her stepsisters get there first.
Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons—before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he’s ever wanted, but Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake—until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise. But when she disappears at midnight, will he ever be able to find her again?
Part romance, part love letter to nerd culture, and all totally adorbs, Geekerella is a fairy tale for anyone who believes in the magic of fandom.

***I received an e-galley of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***
The moment I first heard about Geekerella, I was VERY EXCITED. I love reading fairy tale retellings. So you can probably guess how happy I was to find out about this Cinderella retelling that involves a geeky girl who loves a sci-fi series and plans to enter a cosplay contest at a convention! Seriously, I had so much excitement for this book which in turn meant that I had very high hopes of loving it. And I am so happy to say that I did LOVE IT! Geekerella is everything my heart wanted and more. I loved everything about this modern retelling of Cinderella!
Geekerella is a love letter story to all the geeks in the world. I love how this story shows that you are not alone. How it is okay to be who you are. That it is okay to be a geek. I love the nerd culture in the book. And as someone who has been to conventions (though I have never entered a cosplay contest myself) I love how easily relatable the story is. Geekerella is an adorably cute story that made me smile and brought so much happiness to my heart. I loved all of it. I think it is an inspiring, heartwarming, and sweet story. Geekerella is an entertaining story that had me hooked from the beginning. I read it in one day, I couldn't put it down.
I love the characters. And I think the two main characters have some good character growth.
Elle is a wonderful main character and it is so easy to love her. She is smart and opinionated. She has been through so much with losing both of her parents and having to live with her stepmother and stepsisters. I love how much she loves Starfield. I also love how she is determined to enter the cosplay contest. It is so easy to cheer for Elle and want everything to work out for her in the end.
I know as a reader I am supposed to dislike Elle's stepmom and stepsisters. And I do. They are horrible to Elle. I hated the way they treated her. Especially the stepmom and the one stepsister.
I also really love Darien. He is a little mysterious and layered. I started off worrying that he might be a bit of a jerk, but he really isn't. Just like Elle, he is an interesting character and it was pretty easy for me to love him too. He is a bit lonely and finds happiness in texting with Elle. I loved the interactions and romance between Elle and Darien. The romance to be cute and sweet. I really enjoyed the texting between Elle and Darien.
I also really liked the friendship development between Elle and Sage. I think Sage is a fun character. I really enjoyed them becoming friends!
I wasn't really that surprised by most of the reveals, there were a couple that I didn't see coming. I did really love the storyline and the characters a lot! I also really love the Fandom element of the story. Starfield sounded interesting and I love how much the main characters love it.

My Recommendation:
I highly recommend reading Geekerella! The story is very enjoyable. I was hooked from the beginning and read it in one day. This story made me laugh and have a huge smile on my face. I adored all the fandom and convention parts of the story. I found the main character, Elle, to be extremely lovable and relatable. The romance is really cute and I loved the friendship between Elle and Sage. I loved everything about Geekerella and it is one that I know I will reread again and again.
