Mini Challenge #5: Write a letter to either your past blogger or future blogger self.
Dear Future Stephanie,
I hope that you have gotten better at this whole blogging thing. I know right now it is still pretty new. Just remember why you started to blog in the first place: to have a place where you can write and share your love of books (and a lot of other things too.) It isn't about how many people visit the blog everyday. Or the fact that your only follower is a relative. No. Just remember any time you feel like you want to just give up and quit because you feel like no one cares...it isn't about the followers. This is about you doing something that you love to do.
There are a lot of things that will make this blog better and hopefully by now you have done them. But in case you haven't I am going to list them here for you:
- Write your reviews SOON after your finish reading a book. Really need to stop and write a review while the book is still fresh in your mind, instead of diving into the the next book and having a LONG list of reviews that need to be written.
- Start participating in some blog features/memes. Maybe even come up with a feature yourself.
- Host a giveaway. It will be cool to be able to have a giveaway at some point.
- Participate in more challenges. They are fun to do!
- Create a weekly/bi-weekly/once a month type of feature where book lovers can get together on Skype or something to type and discuss about books. Talk about spoilers and what we think of books. Pick a new book each time.
- Participate in a book tour. Which would be pretty cool.
Those are just a few ideas.
Just remember, you'll doing this for you. So have fun and keep enjoying what you do!

I really, really, really love this letter. I could have written it to myself.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blogging world! I started the same way, only family following my blog. Those are some great goals, good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou've got a great list of goals! I did a list of goals in my letter, too, but I totally forgot to add one about writing my reviews right after finishing a book! I've been meaning to start doing that! It just makes so much more sense, but I always just want to start reading the next book!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Exactly, as soon as I finish reading I start the next book. It is so hard for me to not stop, especially if it is a series.
DeleteWriting my reviews almost immediately after I finish a book is the only way they get written! I forget too many details, otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea for a feature where book lovers get together to talk spoilers - sounds like it would be a lot of fun!
Thanks. I think it would be really fun. I have several reviews where I post about spoilers because those are the parts I really want to talk about. So I also think it would be fun to start a feature like that. :D
DeleteStephanie, your letter turned out fantastic! It has been so great to see everyone's advice + goals for themselves AND for others. I still need to get better at writing the reviews immediately after I finish a book. I have gotten into a bad, bad habit of holding off on them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Everyone does have awesome advice. I have learned a lot today. :D
DeleteLove this! I am also bad about finishing a book and then waiting too long to write the review. Memes are a great way to be part of the community. I especially love Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Thanks for sharing your letter! PS, you have a new GFC follower :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! And I will have to check out Top Ten Tuesday. :D
DeleteAnd Yay! Thanks for following me. *happy dance*
Oh yes, it's very important to remember that you are blogging for YOU, because this also means you'll do anything that YOU like. Keep rocking :D!

Thank you! :D
DeleteYou have some pretty awesome ideas for future things you want to make happen on your blog, Stephanie. I know you can do it! I do think it's a great idea to participate in a few memes, as that's a great way to get to know more people in the community and give them more chances to get to know you.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am already planning on joining Top Ten Tuesday. I am pretty excited about that. :D
DeleteNice goals!! I like to write book reviews while they are fresh in my mind too other wise I forget the finer details!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am going to try really hard to be better about taking time to write out my reviews sooner rather than later.
