Top Ten Tuesday #12: Five Books I Almost Put Down But Didn't

May 13th: Top Ten Books I Almost Put Down But Didn't

Well...more like my Five Books.

1. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
(source)
I almost put this book down because there was a lot of repetition. And because I wasn't use to Mafi's writing style. The strike-outs didn't really bother me. But I am glad that I didn't give in and put it down. I ended up liking the book. And I think I got use to the purple prose that the author used.

2. Blood Red Road by Moira Young

After finishing this book, I couldn't believe that I had almost put it down! I had a bit of a hard time getting into the story at first because of the broken dialect and the absence of quotation marks. But after a while the dialect made sense. I understood why it was written how it was, and I began to not notice. It was part of the story and it helped make the story excellent. I am so glad that I read this book. (It is a great series!)

3. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

Another book that I can't believe I almost put down and missed out on. I just had a hard time getting into the story at first. In fact, I had put the book down after the first time starting. Then came back to the book a couple weeks to a month later. And I am so glad that I continued reading. I love this series and I think I would have missed out on something awesome, if I wouldn't have picked this book back up.

4. Dangerous by Shannon Hale

I am not sure why, but for some reason I had a hard time getting into this story. But I am glad that I gave the story a chance and didn't put the book down. I ended up enjoying the story.

5. Don't Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski
(source)
I picked up this book because I was pre-approved for an e-galley from NetGalley and the synopsis sounded interesting. I had a hard time getting into the book, I think mostly because there were so many different characters. But I didn't put it down. Although this book wasn't for me, I am glad that I finished reading it to see what happens at the end.

I haven't been blogging too long, which could be why there aren't many books that I have almost put down. Before blogging I only read books that I knew I would like. I only read certain authors and genres. But after starting my blog, I have been looking for new genres and authors to read and I am so glad that I have. I have new favorites that I might have missed out on if I wouldn't have started my blog.

What are some books that you have almost put down?
