Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a world free of bloodshed and war.
This is not that world.
Art student and monster's apprentice Karou finally has the answers she has always sought. She knows who she is--and what she is. But with this knowledge comes another truth she would give anything to undo: She loved the enemy and he betrayed her, and a world suffered for it.
In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Karou must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life.
While Karou and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope.
But can any hope be salvaged from the ashes of their broken dream?

***I won a copy of this book from a  Goodreads First Reads giveaway. This does not change the way I view this book.***

***This is the second book in a series. There will be spoilers of things that happened in the first book, so if you haven't read it and don't want to know things that happened, please stop reading now.***

And if you have read Daughter of Smoke & Bone and liked it but haven't read this one yet...what are you waiting for? Go read it!

Laini Taylor is amazing! She did not disappoint me with the sequel to Daughter of Smoke & Bone. There are times where I am worried to read the second (and even third) books in series that start out so strong, because they can sometimes be a little bit of a let down.
But that was not the case for me and Days of Blood & Starlight. I found this book to be outstanding.
The author does an excellent job of continuing to build on this interestingly unique world she has created. I feel that everything was well developed!

And the cover. Oh my goodness, I love the picture on the cover a lot! So pretty.

The Story:

Let me start by saying: I had so many emotions!
Seriously, while reading this book I felt like I was on a roller coaster of feelings.
I was happy, sad, angry, frustrated, a bit heartbroken, so many different emotions.

But I love this book. I love the story and I think it was a wonderful continuation of where book one left off.

There were surprises that I didn't see coming and they shocked me! But there were a couple that I did figure out while reading, but they in no way took away from the story or my love of this book.

Finishing this book left me making "grabby hands" at my computer screen for Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Released April 8th) And I was so glad that I didn't have a long wait before I would be able to get it. (I am currently reading it now.)

The Characters:

I am not even sure how to fully explain or put into words my love for these characters!
Zuzana continues to be one of my favorite characters. She is just so awesome. She is a wonderful friend and a kick-butt character! And Zuzana is just downright funny. I love her humor.
And I love that we see more of Zuzana and Mik in this book. I love the parts that include them in the story and I was so happy to see that they had a bigger role in the story!
We have more Karou and the new challenges she faces after finding out about what Akiva did.
And Akiva trying to deal with the guilt that he feels for hurting Karou.
Other characters from the first book make appearances in this book.
And we meet a few new characters.
Most notably Ziri. He is a chimaera and even knew Madrigal when he was a little boy. (They are the same chimaera). I like him and enjoyed learning more about this character throughout the story.

I love this book. I love this series. And I think it is just awesome. I hope you all liked the book as much as I do!
