As she gets to know one of the boys, sparks fly, and Alina believes she may finally be able to trust someone. But when she uncovers clues left behind from her past life that only she can decipher, secrets begin to unravel. Alina must figure out whether she’s more than the soul she inherited, or if she’s fated to repeat the past.

***I received an e-galley of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***

I really enjoyed reading this book. I must admit that this book first grabbed my attention because of the cover.
This was my first Megan Miranda book, so I didn't have any expectations going into reading this story. Though after reading it, I think I need to read her other books soon, because I really enjoyed her writing!

I am so glad that I read this book!

The story captivated me. I found the concept of this story to be truly fascinating and unique!

Imagine living in a world where souls are like fingerprints. Each soul is unique and can be identified from one life to the next. And your life can and will be determined based on your soul's past.

Alina has basically been kept imprisoned for most of her life based on what happened in her soul's past life. She is treated well, but is constantly guarded. With the help of a few other people, Alina escapes and tries to find out what it is June wants her to know. Finding out more about her past life, will help her find out her future.

This story was a really quick read for me. I was hooked from the very beginning. I did not want to stop reading it. In fact, I think it only took me two days to read it. There is a lot of action and some surprises that I wouldn't have guessed.

I did like the characters.

I found Alina to be strong. She has gone through a lot. And she goes through a lot to escape. Even though things were hard, she kept going. She kept fighting to find what she needed to know. And she is really smart. I cared about what would happen to her and about what information she would find in the end.
The people that helped her escape were also interesting. They all have different motivations for helping Alina escape and discover what June wants her to find. One of my favorite parts of the story is that I wasn't sure which characters were trustworthy either. So that also kept things interesting.

The romance wasn't a big part of the story for me. I thought that it was cute. But for me, Alina finding out more about June and the truth was the part of the story that grabbed my attention. The need for Alina to discover what happened and the truth behind everything.

My Recommendation:

Read it. I really liked reading this book. The action kept my attention and the plot was unique and interesting. I am really happy with the characters and the fact that their actions kept me hooked into wondering what will happen. This is a captivating story and I recommend giving it a read!

Would I Buy This Book?

Yes. I would. I enjoyed reading it, and it is one that I would probably enjoy re-reading in the future.
